Description
River Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Cardiopulmonary Team as a per diem Therapist.
Job Purpose
The Respiratory Therapist implements cardiopulmonary activities under the direction of the Manager of Cardiopulmonary. Performs duties in accordance with hospital or department policies, procedures and practical guidelines. Assumes responsibility for safe and effective administration of prescribed respiratory care treatments and procedures. Provides ECG testing and procedures, within the scope of the ECG department. Transcribes/implements physician orders. Uses basic assessment skills/patient information to maintain awareness and coordinate patient care needs based on patients’ clinical status. Reviews patients’ charts to identify indications/contraindications for therapy. Trouble shoots and takes steps to correct clinical problems, such as adverse reactions. Refers unusual circumstances to the Manager of Cardiopulmonary or Medical Director. Acts independently to organize daily activities of the department, including input of charges and billing information. Participates in patient education.

Qualifications
- NYS Licensed Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or (RT).
- Course work which includes airway / ventilator management, pharmacology, and basic ECG interpretation/diagnosis of arrhythmias.
- BLS required. ACLS and PALS encouraged.
Working conditions and Physical requirements
- Monday to Friday in coordination with the operations of the clinics.
- OSHA Category A – potential for exposure to blood and other infectious body substances.
- Bending, lifting, standing, walking, must possess the physical ability to perform CPR.
