Description

Job Purpose
It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession. It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue. The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of professions for the particular profession.
Job Purpose
Responsibilities of this job include answering all calls to switchboard, outpatient scheduling and registration for all outpatient and ancillary departments. Responsible for switchboard operations, petty cash, mail distribution. Responsible for the organization and management of the Admissions office, its records, files and necessary systems. Responsible for obtaining and verifying all authorizations for scheduled outpatient procedures and inpatient admissions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Three years prior experience in a Hospital/Physician Office as a Clerk, Scheduler, MA or NA, preferred
- Experience in a related outpatient position, preferred
- Knowledge of insurance, Medicare and Medicaid practices
- PC and keyboard skills, required
- Accurate clerical skills
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills necessary
- Ability to work with diverse groups including; physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families.
