Description
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a compassionate and skilled Licensed School-Based Therapist to join our dedicated team of mental health professionals. This specific position will primarily work out of the Thousand Islands Central School District but will be directly employed by River Hospital.
Job Purpose
Education
Completion of an earned Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Counseling from an accredited college or university with at least 60 semester hours of clinical coursework.
Professional Certification, License
Possession of current license as LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or LMFT as granted by the New York State Office of the Professions.
Specialized Knowledge
It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession. It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue. The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of Professions for the particular profession.
This specific position will primarily work out of the Thousand Islands Central School District but will be directly employed by River Hospital.
Job Purpose
Performs professional level work in meeting and conducting therapeutic services through a continuum of care that involves assessments, individual, family treatment, treatment plan coordination, referent
relations, payor relations, and intervention with client support systems within the school system. Is responsible for providing behavioral health services to students, family members and faculty of school.Duties will include counseling and connecting recipients with helpful resources to provide additional support. Performs administrative duties in support of River Community Wellness Program at School-Based Mental Health Clinic.
Education

Specialized Knowledge
- Experience working with individual and family modalities.
- Direct Experience as a school-based therapist highly preferred.
- Knowledge of psychotherapy and methods.
- Knowledge and application of evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of record keeping and report writing techniques.
- Ability to organize and carry out new programs and procedures.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Complies with all DOH, OMH and Justice Center requirements.
- Completes Justice Center Mandated Reporter Training and Code of Conduct annually.
